About Jimmy Butros
"Spiritual meditation is the pathway to Divinity. It is a mystic ladder which reaches from earth to heaven, from error to Truth, from pain to peace." ~James Allen
My initial interest in art began in childhood.
Before starting on my journey in art, I went overseas to visit my family; it was an enlightening trip. While there, my cousin insisted on taking me to a friend of his who was a self-taught artist. A huge entrance led into an indoor room; the wall was covered with over seventy-five pieces of artwork. His compositions were intriguing, unique and beautiful. Some evoked sadness over the loss of his occupied homeland. I was inspired the moment I saw these creations.
I was trained in art in two ways. First, in a commercial art vocational school; the commercial aspect held no interest for me. Then, a fine arts degree in college; this I connected with as my instructor gave me an oil paint palette of colors which I adhered to for years, I began to tentatively explore other colors combinations.
Throughout different phases of my life I explored three styles of oil paintings: still lives, landscapes, and then abstracts. Since then, I’ve had years of experience painting abstract work on canvas and creating art by looking deep within my soul.

The following quote of Bruce Lee reflects with complete accuracy my own thoughts regarding art, “Art reaches its greatest peak when devoid of self-consciousness. Freedom discovers man the moment he loses concern over what impression he is making or about to make.”
