A daughter of Italian immigrants, Cat Del Buono received a BA from Boston College, an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, and attended the graduate film program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Trained as a photographer and filmmaker, Cat focuses on creating video installations that question how society defines beauty and how women are impacted. She uses performance, interactive video, and humor to engage and impact her viewers. She has exhibited in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami, Spain, Serbia, and Sweden, to name a few. Awards include Winner of Baang & Burne Contemporary New Works Grant, Awesome Foundation Grant, Best in Show at The Art Place Wynwood in Miami, a NYFA Strategic Opportunity Stipend, Miami Masterminds Honorable Mention, 2nd Prize at the 13th International Open at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, Thomas Reiss Memorial Award from SVA Alumni Association for her thesis project, and residencies at La Pan Gallery in Barcelona and ArtCenter/South Florida.
