Jean Abreu graduated at the Laban Centre in 1999 and was a founder member of Protein Dance, creating roles in Portrait with Group & Duck, Publife and The Banquet. His own first work was launched in 2003, and since then he has toured throughout the UK (including at the festival Dance Umbrella and at the South Bank Centre); as well as to the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Brazil, Ukraine, Croatia and Mexico. He has been a Jerwood Choreography Award winner in 2003, as well as an Associate Artist at The Place (2004-06) and an Artist-in-Residence at Dance East (2007). In 2008 he completed a major collaboration with the Young Vic Theatre London for their latest Christmas show Amazonia. In 2009 he premiered The Boulevard of Broken Dreams in collaboration with Mavron String Quartet, touring it in England and Wales. Jean is currently an Associate Artist at the organizations Swindon Dance and Hat Factory for the next three years.
