Linda Luke has had a dance and performance making practice for the past 15 years and creates solo performance, as well as working with ensembles. Linda's research aims to uncover the nuances of poetry, explore sensitivities and how we perceive the world, and reveal the subtle undercurrents we experience in relationship to self, each other and to external environments. For the past 10 years, she has been developing her practice drawing from the methodology of Bodyweather. Bodyweather’s core approach asks the dancer to respond to environments outside of themselves and is less concerned with expressing the ‘self’. The methodology was founded by Japanese dancer/ choreographer Min Tanaka, and draws its lineages back to Butoh dancer Tatsumi Hijikata. Bodyweather is primarily a training practice (as opposed to a 'style' of dance) and draws from both eastern and western dance practice, athletics, martial arts and theatre practice. more: lindaluke.
