Thea Pratt has been working as a puppet animator since 1999 when she graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of fine Arts in Film Animation.
Following an apprenticeship on the animation stand at the National Film Board of Canada, she worked in the commercial film industry between 1999 and 2001 on the animation stand, optical printer and as a stop motion animator for television commercials. During this time, she began honing her skills as a stop motion animator and developing ideas for her personal works. Between 2002 and 2006, Thea worked as a stop-motion animator for children’s television, a career that has contributed both financially and developmentally to her career as an independent, frame by frame, filmmaker. Based out of Montreal, Quebec, Thea now teaches animation and works both as a consultant and animation director on independent productions.
