Christy Funsch is a dance maker, performer, and teacher. She has had her work presented in Amsterdam, Chicago, London, New York, Phoenix, Toronto, and throughout California. Christy has enjoyed rich collaborative partnerships with Stephen Pelton Dance Theater, Nol Simonse, Julie Mayo, and Sue Roginski. She has also worked with Susan Rethorst, Katie Faulkner, Dandelion Dancetheater, Maxine Moerman Dancetheatre, Leslie Seiters, Mary Armentrout, and many others. Christy holds an MFA in Performance and Choreography from Arizona State University where she studied with Daniel Nagrin, and a Laban Movement Analysis certification from LIMS New York. She has been awarded residencies at CounterPULSE, Djerassi, the U Cross Foundation, and Yaddo. Christy has received four nominations for Performance from San Francisco's Isadora Duncan Dance Awards Committee, and she has been awarded several grants from the Zellerbach Family Foundation, CA$H, a New Stages for Dance Award from Dancers' Group and the MetLife Foundation, the San Francisco Arts Commission, and, most recently, a Chime Across Borders Award from the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company in support of a mentorship with Tere O'Connor for the 2013 year. She has been named one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch" for 2014.
