Established in 2006, mecca v.a is the Artistic Director of The MOVEMENT movement whose mission is to implode/explode and relentlessly unburden the souls of the stories never told. The MOVEMENT movements is a performance art movement theatre group that shares, maintains and encourages, a movement spectrum that is both focused and limitless in an effort to explore concepts of entertainment, sociology and drama in both an blatant and/or subconcious fashion.
Mecca teaches at Loyola Marymount University, Edge Performing Arts Center and Heartbeat House. Recents choreography projects include The Slits, MEN, The Very Best, Steve Fagin's Cloud of Hope, Ebony Bones, Bess LookBook, Center Theater Group and the ballet ASTRA. mecca recently made her directing debut with the Downtown event The Series.
