I am currently a PhD student based in the Department of Geography and Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at University College London. My interests lie in all things spatial- anything from old maps to web apps and the latest methods in spatial analysis. My PhD topic focuses on the use of GIS for studying population characteristics (primarily surname patterns). I started my PhD in the autumn of 2008 and am supervised by Paul Longley and Pablo Mateos. My research is funded through an ESRC CASE Award in collaboration with ESRI (UK). Alongside my PhD I am Secretary for the RGS-IBG GIScience Research Group and a member of RGS-IBG Quantitative Methods Research Group committee.
