Dancer & Actor. Miguel was born in Mexico. He has been part of festivals such as ImPulsTanz 2012 & 2014 (Vienna, Austria), Performática 2007-2012 (Puebla, Mexico), Stoff Fringe Festival 2011 (Stockholm, Sweden), American Dance Festival 2009-2010 (North Carolina/New York, USA), and others. Amongst several places, he has presented his work at the National Center for the Arts in Mexico City, at the Centre Culturel Jean Cocteau in Les Lilas, France and at IF ONLY (International Festival Of a Necessarily Lonely You) in Ireland.
In New York City and North Carolina USA, Miguel has been a scholarship recipient by the American Dance Festival (2009-2010). Miguel has been continually supported by Mexico's Government as an independent artist; a grant holder from the National Council for Culture and Arts CONACULTA and Puebla's State Arts Council (2009, 2010, 2013) as well as from the National Fund for Culture and Arts FONCA (2012).
Miguel was member of the theatre troupe Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes directed by Claudio Valdés Kuri in Mexico City (2005-2009.) He joined m:m danza-teatro in 2007 led by artist Mayra Morales (Mexico/Canada). Miguel has created his independent work alongside Benjamin Cantu (Berlin, Germany), Gennaro Maione (Napoli, Italy), Giorgia Minisini (Germany/Italy), Zap McConnell (Virginia USA), Amira Ramírez (Mexico), Lourdes Roth (Mexico), Paulina Rucarba (Paris, France), Ray Eliot Schwartz (North Carolina USA), Jason Akira Somma (New York USA), Angelika Thiele (Berlin, Germany) and Jesse Zaritt (New York USA).
In 2011, Miguel relocated to Tel Aviv, Israel to work and train with different dance makers and in various movement languages. Later, he became part of the danceWEB Scholarship Programme 2012 at ImPulsTanz under the tutorship of Robin Poitras & Benoît Lachambre in Vienna, Austria. That same year he joined the last Solo Performance Commissioning Project, in Findhorn, Scotland under the direction of Deborah Hay for the solo “Dynamic” which he premiered the following year -after a contractual nine month everyday practice- in Ireland and which he continues to perform. In 2014 he was invited to take part of the danceWEB Scholarship Programme for the second time as a “frog” under the mentoring of Chris Haring and David Wampach.
Miguel graduated Magna Cum Laude from Universidad de las Américas Puebla with a BFA in Theatre and a BFA in Dance and is a freelance translator, masseur and Certified Pilates Instructor. He is currently a traveling freelance artist in the process of defining what is home.
