Born in Salamanca, Spain in 1982, David felt a strong passion for storytelling from an early age. He moved to Barcelona where he finished his Bachelor’s degree at the Pompeu Fabra University. After graduating, he worked for Pedro Almodovar’s Production Company, El Deseo.
In 2006 David won a scholarship from La Caixa Foundation to study in the USA and he began the Directing Program at UCLA Film School. For his first film in English, THE BREAKFAST, he worked with the two-time Tony award winning actress, Cherry Jones.
In 2008 he screened his next movie, PORTRAIT OF A COUPLE, at the Palm Springs Short Film Festival, and sold the broadcast rights to LOGO, the gay TV channel of MTV networks. His most political film, IDA Y VUELTA (ROUND TRIP), was selected as a National Finalist for the Student Academy Awards and won the Latino category of the Directors Guild of America Student Awards.
David Martin-Porras graduated in December 2009 with his Thesis film, THE WIDOW.
