Adam Nelson grew up in Minnesota. In 2006 he moved down to Orange, California, to pursue a BFA in Film Production at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University.
As he continued his time as a student, he produced three films exploring genres of drama, action and fantasy.
In 2010, one of his thesis films, Palm County, was nominated for Best Picture, Best Visual Effects, and Best Sound Design as well as winning for Best Cinematography and Best Production Design. Recently, Palm County was also nominated for awards in Best Special Effects and Breakout Action Star (Trey Rogers) at the Action On Film (AOF) International Film Festival.
In addition to his narrative short films, he produced a State Farm spec commercial for Chapman University’s “Feel Free” campaign in the 2010 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) hosted by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Chapman University won first place in the District 15 Southern California region and then went on to win first place at the nationwide competition in Orlando, Florida.
