Born in Ghana West Africa, raised and currently living in London England.
Winstan started out making skateboard films in 1991 which grew into a serious passion for film making. In 1997 he decided to study film and TV, gaining much experience working on many short films and eventually started to work on a professional level as a Grip in 1999. Having worked his way up to the position of Key Grip - The Temple Project, Dog The Movie, American Daylight, White On White - Winstan then made the leap to becoming a camera operator in 2002. In 2003 he got his first break as a Director of Photography shooting short films. From there he started shooting music promos for artist including Dizzee Rascal, Taz, The Streets & Twang, 27 Beats and Professor Green, and EPK's/Documentary's for 4Play (Channel 4) with artists including Echo&The Bunny men, Hope of the States, Scissor Sisters, The Appleton's, Fatman Scoop, The Hoosiers, The Fray, Lionel Ritchie, Jamie Scott Tom Baxter John Legend, Paul McCartney, Ronnie Wood and Tommy Iommi Commercials: Cobra Beer, Dominoes Pizza and Swatch. Winstan has shot many feature length documentaries: Mark Bolan The Last Word, Dizzee Rascal Bow Selecta, Rollin' Through The Decades, Legacy In The Dust: The Four Aces Story, The Recollections Of John Horner. He has also shot various skateboarding tours and promos including ˜Pretty Fly To Skate, Rebull ˜Seek and Destroy 3 and Zootcuircus.
Winstan also works as a mentor/facilitator on many film making workshops within the educational sector; these include Eelyn Lee Productions, Connections, Hackney Empire, Creative Partnerships, A New Direction, ENO Baylis, Special Schools Trust, Thomas Tallis and The Branchage Film Festival Bootcamp in Jersey.
