Jonathan Alexander is a professional digital filmmaker who writes, produces, shoots and edits documentary, narrative and corporate and commercial video.
Jonathan Alexander received his BA in Video and Film from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. Upon graduation he immediately went to work in television news production in one of the country’s top 15 markets. It is here where he learned the art of telling gripping personal stories using classical storytelling techniques, intuitive interviewing and creative videography all under stringent and ambitious deadlines.
After a few years of covering news in Phoenix AZ, he moved into commercial production for a local company in Little Rock Arkansas where he worked on television commercials and corporate videos of various budgets and sizes. Working for a small company enabled him to wear many hats and learn all facets of the production process. It is here where he truly honed his skills from creative conception to final delivery working on high profile spots airing in the Super Bowl and for clients including MTV, Stevens Financial, Alltell, CBS, NBC, USPS, the United States Marine Corps, Discovery Channel Education, and New Bay Media and now for the city of Hyattsville MD
He also shot and edited a short documentary titled, Now You Know. This passion project documented the effects of big corporate landfill expansion on a small New England town.
Documentary story telling is Jonathan’s passion and why he went to film school. By leveraging increasingly powerful digital and High Definition production tools he has become a passionate digital filmmaker who has the knowledge of modern day production techniques, technology and distribution.
He has a collaborative and friendly personality that relaxes and puts interview subjects at ease, allowing for personal stories to effortlessly emerge and be captured. He truly believes life is art and the combination of moving pictures, sound and a good story is the most powerful medium known to man.
