Born in Florida, Dave moved to Santa Barbara, California in 1992. As a teen, his goal was to chase his dream of becoming a professional surfer but an early injury forced him to stop competing. Soon after he picked up a 16mm camera and has been creating ever since.
He has travelled to exotic locations around the world both filming and also working as a competition judge for The Association of Surfing Professionals. He later became a familiar face in the big wave scene as a judge for the Big Wave World Tour including such prestegious events as The Mavericks Big Wave Contest in Half Moon Bay, California, The Todos Santos Big Wave Event in Mexico, The Nelscott Reef Big Wave Invitational in Lincoln City, Oregon and The Quicksilver Ceremonial Big Wave Competition at Punta de Lobos in Pichelimu, Chile.
When not hunting, fishing, surfing, or riding motocross he can be found up and down the coast filming wherever the waves are good. Some of Dave's more recent cinematography work has appeared on the The Discovery Channel, ESPN, and Fuel TV as well as doing private shoots for regional companies and businesses and recently finished co-producing and directing the 2 latest Glas surf films "The Ripple Effect" and "On a Dime".
With strong commmunication skills, a high attention to detail, and unbrideled professionalism Dave would be a great asset to anyone seeking an experienced surf industry professional or quality cinematographer.
