William Stewart was born in Canada. In 2012, he graduated with distinction from the MA Directing: Film and TV course at the University of Westminster, London, UK. At Westminster he was taught and mentored by some of Britain’s most accomplished and experienced directors, such as Asif Kapadia, Robert Bierman, Simon Shore, and Aisling Walsh.
He has worked for BBC, Westminster News Online, and Colour My London.
His short film “Touch” was shortlisted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 and has been screened at festivals in Britain, Canada, India, and Japan. In 2014 his short film “The Three of Us” premiered at the Navi Mumbai International Film Festival in India, alongside “Touch”, and screened at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
Currently he runs Stewart Film Productions, an independent production house focused on international productions and co-productions.
