Filip Sterckx(1985, Leuven) is a director and visual artist. He got his master degree in Animation Film in 2007 at Sint Lukas Brussels. His graduation short film "Stroom", a combination of live action and animation, was selected at several prestigious festivals in Europe, such as the International Film Festival Rotterdam (Prix UIP Nominee), Hamburg International Short Film Festival, International Short Film Festival Leuven, Paris Tout-Court, …
He has directed several music videos for bands like Willow, Bodyspasm, Steak Number Eight and Eat Lions. For his 'Sweater' video for Belgian band Willow he won the Music Industry Award (MIA), Prix de l'intermede at Protoclip (Paris), the audience award at Clip That Beat and Bronze Award at TIDCA (Taipei International Digital Content Awards)
Since 2006 he started to create installations based on his experiments in animation film. In februari 2009 he had his first exposition at the Kulturama Festival Leuven. His installation 'Peepshow' was selected for 'Open M' and the final of 'De Canvascollectie/La Collection RTBF'. His work has been shown at Museum M, TedX Maastricht, Bozar Brussels, ... 'Peepshow' won the audience award of 'De Canvascollectie/La Collection RTBF 2012'.
Together with Antoon Verbeeck he runs Skullmapping (, an artistic collective that deals with art in an experimental, technology-related way. Their work has been shown at Brussels Light Festival, Contour Festival Mechelen, Grote Markt Antwerp (NYE), Leuven in Scène, ...
