Rachel Healy is an Irish artist based in Kildare and Dublin. She received her Honours Degree in Fine Art Painting from the Limerick School of Art and Design in 2011. Since graduating she has undertaken a residency at Occupy Space, Limerick as part of their graduate residency award programme which incorporated a closing exhibition and has exhibited in a number of group shows nationwide including shows at IMOCA , Dublin, Hive Gallery, Waterford, Basement Project Space, Cork and Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda. Her work serves as a commentary on image-making and is rooted in art history, cinema and the convergence of art and the moving image. Her current practice examines the domain between motion and still pictures, the translation of an image from a photograph; the reduction of information in which the work becomes symbolic in content as well as the elements and thought process present in image-making.
