Shirley Gutierrez has worked in television and film in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 30 years. In the course of her career she has worked on films dealing with ecosystem devastation (“The Last Stand”), the impact of gentrification on San Francisco neighborhoods (“Homefront”), and the health threat posed by chemical contaminants in our environment (“Toxic Bust”), among others. Her work on “Homefront” won her a Northern California Emmy in 2002, and she is also the recipient of awards from the Society for Environmental Journalism and The Society for Professional Excellence in Journalism for her work on the KQED science series “Quest.”
