He was born in Busan (Korea) in 1980. At the age of 13, he entered at Atelier of drawing and painting. After studying at Busan Design High school, he began to study classic Art at Art University in 1998. In 1999 during his travel to Italy, he discovered Europe and Italian Classic music by his sister, pianist.

In 2001, he arrived in France, continued his studies in Beaux-arts de Nancy (Fine Art school) and than, in ENSAD (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris), Section Video / Photo, where he learned classic cinema and documentary. In 2008, he entered at Le Fresnoy where he directed Middle-length feature film, "IN THE DARK", shooted in South Korea, and a fantastic film, "RED ROAD", selected in several international festivals (Molodist Kyiv, Interfilm Berlin, Bucharest, Amiens etc.). He collaborates with British sound artist Robin Rimbaud, also known as Scanner, who has worked with Radiohead.

During this period, he is interested by Philippe Grandrieux, Nikita Mikhalkov, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Abbas Kiarostami, Jim Jarmousch, David Lynch, Wong Kar Wai, Lee Chang-Dong, Park Chan-Wook, Tsai Ming Liang, Ken Loach, Darren Aronofsky, Asghar Farhadi etc. In 2009, fascinated by the desert, he travels alone to Australia, and he made a film in Super 8 : "ISLAND". A poetic film inspired by Wim Wenders, "Paris, Texas" (1984).

In 2011, he won the Grand Prize of 9th Asiana International Short Film Festival (Seoul, Korea) with his documentary short film "Promise" selected also in many festivals (Rio de Janeiro, Bilbao, Interfilm Berlin, Lussas, Amiens etc.). The same year, he won the fund Louis Lumière 2011 (French Institute) for shooting of his documentary "Looking for North Koreans" (Prize of mention of Jury / Cinema Planeta Festival 2013 - Mexico).

In 2012, he selected among one of 6 directors of 24th Session of the Cannes Residency (Cinefondation), he wrote first draft of feature film project "Secret of my father". And he continued to write in Residency of Moulin d'Andé / CECI. He participated Ties that bind (EAVE), Open Doors of Locano 2012. Financed by CNC, and Basse-Normandie region, for development and rewrite, the film will be shooted in 2016.

In 2013, he participated Taipei Factory organized by Directors' Fortnight of Cannes Film Festival and Taipei Film Commission. This omnibus movie including 4 short films which he directed one of films "The pig" with taiwanese director Singing Chen, presented to 66th Cannes Film festival in Directors' Fortnight. Same year, financed by CNC (Fund of rewrite) he followed french director Jeanne Labrune as consultant for her next movie.

Actually, his new feature film documentary called “Mrs. B” is in coproduction between France and Korea. He was selected in IDFA Central Pitch 2014. This project won Audience Award in Jeonju International Film Festival JPP Documentary pitching 2014. And then he got World Cinema Grant by CNC/French Institute.
