James splits his time between NYC and Los Angeles as an actor and filmmaker. As an actor he has appeared on “Law & Order,” “30 Rock,” and cable TV series “From Date to Mate” as well as starring in several independent films. He trained in NYC at HB Studio under the direction of Ed Morehouse, Austin Pendleton, and briefly Uta Hagen herself.
In 2010 he co-founded NewRhode Films, in order to write and develop his own projects. His first short, "The Price" premiered at the 2011 Vail Film Festival and went on to screen and win awards at festivals around the world including Comic-Con and the Almeria Western Film Festival. In 2012 he wrote/directed the short “Automatic Draw," and in 2013 directed the short "M4."
James has been hired to direct music videos for clients including Raquel Castro, finalist from NBC’s “The Voice” and Bare Naked Ladies’ opener, Abby Bernstein. In addition to “The Price” feature version, he is currently writing an alternate history TV series titled “Avondale," an action/drama titled “Crippled Eagle” about the Rhodesian bush war, and a home invasion thriller titled "Silent Night."
