Amy Merz has years of experience as a multi-media journalist. She is a videographer, producer, writer and editor who can take a project from inception to completion.
In 1985, she moved to Africa where she lived for 15 years, to work as a freelance journalist and formed the production company Video Africa with Bob Coen. Amy worked abroad, often in war zones, over the entire continent of Africa, including Liberia, Sierra Leone, Angola, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa, The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda to name a few. CNN International, ITN-Channel 4/UK and BBC were several of the companies Amy worked for.
Amy is also an enthusiastic and devoted teacher of her craft. She leads hands on Film making/Television Journalism classes and workshops at Seattle University, Reel Grrls and Multimedia Resources and Training Institute. Amy’s students cover an age range and come from a diverse range of nationalities. She shares her experience in videography, editing, producing and storytelling with her students and is able to capture their passion and breed success.
