GABRIEL JUDET-WEINSHEL (director/DP)
Gabriel Judet-Weinshel’s work as a DP and director includes a number of music videos, documentaries, and short films. They have shown at the San Francisco International Film Festival, the American Film Institute, on Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, and CMT; and at festivals and other venues around the world in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, Brazil, Hungary, Croatia, Germany, the UK, Canada, and Egypt. He directed Martin Scorsese in a short piece giving tribute to actor Victor Argo that screened at Lincoln Center. To date, he has directed 11 music videos for artists as wide-ranging as Americana acts The Greencards, to Irish favorite Mark Geary, to French art rocker CharlELlie Couture, to Peter Gabriel signatory Joseph Arthur. He has directed EPKs and mini-documentaries for folk-rock sensation Brett Dennen, while shooting Dennen’s cover art and a photo of him for Rolling Stone. In affiliation with East Pleasant pictures, he has worked as a photographer on HBO’s Justin Timberlake FutureSex/LoveShow and Sundance’s Spectacle (with Elvis Costello), and on segments with musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, and Bono. He recently directed his first commercial for NY ad agency Noise, and his commercial and corporate work as a shooter and DP include Microsoft, CBS Sports, People Magazine, Tennis Magazine, the Food Network, high-end fashion lines Adrienne Vittadini and Judith Leiber, and the NFL. In 2009 he won two local Emmy’s for his direction and photography on NYC Soundtracks, an eight-part documentary series for the Madison Square Garden network on New York Subway musicians. His most recent short, THE HEART IS A HIDDEN CAMERA (starring Zulay Henao of Fighting and Jamie Harding of United 93), has been accepted to over 30 festivals internationally, including the International Films Festival in Bilbao, Spain; the short won awards at the prestigious Black Maria Film Festival and was eligible for Academy Award consideration at the LA Shorts Film Festival. Past nominations include a Rockefeller Fellowship and the Sundance Lab. Meanwhile, he is currently at work on the feature film, OMPHALOS, starring Edoardo Ballerini (EXPERIMENTER, ROMEO MUST DIE), Austin Pendleton (AMISTAD, FINDING NEMO), and Emmanuelle Chriqui ('Entourage,' DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN).
