Yi Chen is an award-winning documentary filmmaker based in Washington, D.C. Her films have screened at film festivals in the United States, Canada and China. Major media including NBC Washington, The Washington Post, NPR, Link TV and Washington City Paper have published stories about her and her work.
Chen was honored Filmmaker of the Month by DC Office of Motion Picture and Television Development in April 2013 for her “outstanding documentary on historic DC neighborhood.” “Chinatown” was the first documentary to examine how urban development has impacted DC Chinatown’s immigrant community. It aired on PBS station WHUT-TV and won Best Documentary Short at Indie Capitol Awards.
