Zechariah Lloyd is an American country crossover artist born in 1985 in Oktibeha County, Mississippi. He spent his childhood in Vicksburg, Mississippi where he was surrounded by his mother's piano playing as she rehearsed each morning for church performances, his father and uncle playing drums, and the music of Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molley Hatchet playing on an old record player he refurbished at the age of 13.
In high school, Lloyd was introduced to Rage Against the Machine and Tool. These bands were greatly influential and sparked a deep interest in history, politics and political activism. Though Zachariah Lloyd started his musical career as a drummer, playing with the likes of Jimbo Mathus, Duff Durough and the Burnsides, it wasn't until his freshman year of college that Lloyd bought his first guitar and started seriously honing his skills as a songwriter. His major influences are John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Bob Marley, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Andy McKee, Junior Kimborough, R.L. Burnside, Derek Trucks Band and the Allman Brothers.
Zechariah Lloyd is currently at work on his debut album. It is scheduled for release by Mission 66 Records in early 2013.
