Butterfly Caught is a dance and projected image project that explores the self in virtual and actual existence. Seeking to capture that which can never be held [the soul, inner being, cosmic forces... Signified by the virtual]. Touching with the delicateness of a butterfly; wings like silk, lighter than breath and softer than a child’s foot step. A nothingness and an everything like that of the sun. No density but rich in occupancy...
Danced in the actual caught in the virtual, captured yet lost... Disappeared in the same moment it was caught. Becoming a new dance, moment, movement in time; a dance reborn in the lens of the camera, in the beam of the projector, in the computers absent mind, only memory, memory without emotion... Knowing that the virtual has no presence, no substance without the actual; no mind without body, no body without soul, no earth without sun, no birth without re-birth; no butterfly without chrysalis...
