Jack Marlar, an expert on Confederate artillery during the American Civil War, exhibits samples of Confederate fuses and discuss the technology of them with host Howard Ray White. We were fortunate to get Mr. Marlar to bring his exhibit to our studio and share is expertise on that subject. Jack is a leader of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. White's book series is "Bloodstains, An Epic History of the Politics that Produced the American Civil War."

White is a retired chemical engineer, historian, writer and producer and host of the television series, "True American History." White's primary book is the 4-volume history, "Bloodstains, An Epic History of the Poliitics that Produced the American Civil War."

In this episode of True American History host Howard Ray White discusses President James K. Polk with historian Gary McCullough of Charlotte, North Carolina. Polk was born in North Carolina and moved to Tennessee as a young man where he rose to prominence, became a good friend of Andrew Jackson and eventually became President of the United States. His term was during the War Against Mexico. Many believe Polk was among the greatest of America's Presidents, even though he only served for one term.
