He illustrated the NIrV Kids’ Study Bible and is the creator, writer, and host of the award-winning children’s television show Come On Over! The 2012 Calvin Symposium on Worship will explore praying and worshiping through the Psalms. Symposium attendees will get to see a Psalms art exhibit featuring 23 works of art by 15 artists. Here Joel Schoon-Tanis talks about his painting “Pa-Salms,” which he created especially for the Psalms art exhibit at Calvin College. Schoon-Tanis illustrated the NIrV Kids’ Study Bible. This service of Psalm 1, Jesus Knows the Way of the Righteous, was part of the Calvin Symposium on Worship 2012. The liturgy and music was led by students from Calvin College with Mary Hulst preaching. This service was modeled after the Sunday evening student-led worship service at Calvin College following the movements of praise, confession and assurance, intercession, listening to God’s Word, and responding with acts and dedication and faith.
