Introducing the Vimeo panel for Adobe Premiere Pro

Vimeo Staff
February 22, 2017 by Vimeo Staff Staff

When it comes to video editing, Adobe® Premiere® Pro CC is one of the key tools our community relies upon. And now, we’re bringing the power of Vimeo straight to Adobe: with the all-new Vimeo panel, you can upload videos from Adobe directly to your Vimeo account in just one click. Vimeo PRO and Business members can also instantly create a video review page from Adobe to start collaborating with reviewers. What’s it all mean? Your post-production workflow is now simplified and more efficient than ever before.

How it works

First, you’ll need to download the free Vimeo panel. When it’s finished, reopen Adobe Premiere Pro and click Window > Extensions > Vimeo from the top navigation. Voila! Your panel should now appear. Log in using your Vimeo account info, then do your thing and continue editing your cut. You can easily dock the panel or drag it to a place that makes sense for you as you work.

When you’re ready to send your sequence to Vimeo, click the upload icon or click “Upload to Vimeo” from the panel. Then, you can choose your privacy settings, or customize encoding presets with bitrate, codec, and resolution settings, and more. All set? Click the “Upload” button, and your sequence will be rendered, exported, and uploaded to Vimeo as a video. And if you’re curious about your Vimeo storage, we got you: it’s always right across the top of the panel.

Once you’ve uploaded to Vimeo, PRO and Business members can instantly create a review page: simply click the More icon, click “Create review page,” and start sharing with your reviewers to collect feedback and leave time-coded notes.

OK, you’ve downloaded the gorgeous new panel, but what if you’re looking for an Adobe refresher, or just want to pick up some basics? No sweat. Dive into our Adobe Premiere Pro video series, filled with step-by-step walkthroughs on everything from custom interfaces, to trimming clips, to adding text and more.

If you couldn’t tell, we’re kind of sweet on Adobe — and that means our partnership’s just beginning, and there are many more features to come in the near future. But until then, we want to hear from you: so get the free Vimeo panel for Premiere Pro and let us know in the comments just what you’re loving, and what we can tweak, tinker, and build for next time.

Great tool but I've tried it twice now and even though I choose "entire sequence" it's cutting off the exported file. My particular sequence is 1:44 long but it will only export a total 1:03. I've double checked and I do not have any times marked in/out either. So it looks like it should be doing the full 1:44. Thanks guys.

Ben Stahl Staff

Hey Adam, I'm sorry to hear that! I'll follow up with you on email. Thanks for trying out the panel.

Dana Staff

Hi there,

Unfortunately, the Vimeo panel is only supported in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015.3 or higher.

Experience Friendship PRO

I've tried installing 4 times and every time it gives me an error message saying, "The installer encountered an error that coursed the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

Can you help me with this?

Dana Staff

Hi there! Would you mind confirming the version of Premiere that is installed on your system? You may see an installation error if you are running a version below Premiere Pro CC 2015.3.

Dana Staff

The panel is compatible with Yosemite. I'd like to follow up you on email to troubleshoot this issue further. I'll be in touch shortly!

Joshua Vos | DJVL Plus

I'm having the same issue with premiere pro CC 2017.0.2 and macOS Sierra 10.12.3. I already removed and re-installed Premiere, but no luck...

Freeze Productions Plus

Having the same problem here... running premiere pro cc 2017 and macOS Sierra 10.12.1...

Are there any reasons to go to Wipster then? We are currently thinking about review pages but can't see the difference between the two. Is this Vimeo panel for PP also let you create markers where reviewers have made comments for instance?

Dana Staff

Hi there! Sorry for my delayed response. The Vimeo panel can be used to upload your sequences and create review pages within Premiere. With the video review page, an unlimited amount of reviewers can click directly on any frame to leave a time-coded note. However, review page functionality hasn't been added to the Vimeo panel itself just yet. For now, that will need to be accessed from the review page link on Vimeo (outside of Premiere). We are working to add this functionality to the panel very soon which would allow for markers and comments to appear in your Premiere timeline. If you have any suggestions, we'd love to hear them!

Outlaw Partners PRO

Hi Dana, any updates on the vimeo panel in premiere being able to import markers from vimeo review pages? The functionality I'm after looks a lot like what exists in Wipster already: vimeo.com/160580142 If not, is there any way to get the exported csv from the review page into a format premiere can understand and import to make comment markers in a timeline? Also, when I installed the panel and logged in, it says I don't have any videos in my vimeo account. I assumed this was a team issue so logged into the main accounts but it's the same empty, any ideas?

Dana Staff

@outlawpartners I'm very sorry to say there are no updates for review page functionality within the Premiere panel. Additionally, there are no work arounds for importing Vimeo review page notes/markers into Premiere. We're still researching this feature and may potentially add it in the future, but I'm afraid there are no guarantees.

In regards to your second issue, we do not support team member uploads from the panel. Just to make sure, are you logging in using the primary email address associated with your account here- vimeo.com/outlawpartners? If so, could you please provide a screenshot of what is currently displaying? Thank you!

Julius Koivistoinen Plus

I'm getting the same error during installation as mentioned above. Maybe that's because I'm still on Premiere Pro CS6? Could we get a confirmation whether this is only Premiere Pro CC compatible plugin?

Dana Staff

Hi Julius! Unfortunately, the Vimeo panel is only supported in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015.3 or higher. That would explain the error message you are seeing. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Belshaw Adamatic PRO

In Premiere CC latest, tried to "Select a sequence" all ways I could think of, but couldn't do it.

Dana Staff

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I'd like to follow up with this issue via email. You'll be hearing from us shortly!

Fender Play Production PRO

Same issue here. Love the idea of this; would really help workflow, but I can't seem to get it to work.

Dana Staff

Thanks for letting us know. We are currently investigating this issue and hope to release some changes to the product very soon. In the meantime, I would recommend closing the panel, opening the sequence in the timeline panel, and then reopening the panel.

Dana Staff

We are working on releasing some changes shortly that should help with this issue. Stay tuned!

Dana Staff

Hi all! We've just pushed some changes to fix this issue. If you're still having trouble with the upload button, try closing and reopening the panel to get the latest version.

BioSkin PRO

I tried it in Premiere CC and my video never uploaded. The upload status bar didnt display very well either. Not sure what the problem is. Can you help me to get it to work?

Dana Staff

Yikes, that's not good. I’m going to move this conversation to email to troubleshoot further. Please hang tight – we’ll be in touch soon. (We’ll use the primary email address associated with your Vimeo account.)

MEL Films PRO

Same issue, running on latest CC. Can you email me at andrew.pfeifer@melindustries.com

click2view PRO

I hope there will be an option soon on the panel where you can replace an existing video file on your Vimeo account.

Dana Staff

This feature is definitely on our list of things to add!

Metropolis Films London

Works a treat guys, BRAVO! Can Review comments show on your Premiere timeline or will that be a feature added later? Thanks

Dana Staff

Review page comments and notes are not be accessible within Premiere at this time. Although, we are hoping to add this feature in the near future.

Matthew Reynolds

Having the same issue as Belshaw Adamatic above. Can you help?

Dana Staff

Hi Matthew, would you mind closing and reopening the panel within Premiere? That may do the trick.

Reynolds Brothers Plus

That didn't work but closing and reopening the programe worked, along with highlighting the sequence in the browser before opening the panel. Thanks, and great job!

Dana Staff

@matthewreynolds We've just pushed some changes to fix this issue. If you're still having trouble, try closing and reopening the panel for the latest version.

Fly Video Plus

How do I uninstall the app? It seems to causing issues on my Mac. I'm using the latest version of PP and the program now will not open...

Dana Staff

I'm sorry to hear that. We haven't developed an uninstaller just yet, but you can follow these instructions to remove the panel from your Mac: devi.vimeocdn.com/dana/9Ucq. Please let us know if you have any questions!

TVC Group

Hi. I've installed the Vimeo panel and logged in within Premiere Pro (2017.0.1). However it then says "Select a Sequence". Not matter how many ways I try and do this, nothing happens. Any ideas?

Dana Staff

Hi there, would you mind trying to close and reopen the panel within Premiere? Let me know if you are still having issues.

TVC Group

Hi there. I had done that, but I have the same problem. Strangely, on a slightly unrelated issue, when the panel is open, it makes one of my sequences (a very long sequence with over 10 hours of footage) unworkable, as it is incredibly slow. All other (much shorter) sequences are fine. Once I close the panel, the long sequence is then scrubbable as usual, and the slow down disappears.

MOOSE Media PRO

Hello, We are having the same problem as TVC Group. We've closed the panel multiple times and restarted premiere multiple times as well. We've also reinstalled the Vimeo panel as well. I'm running premiere pro cc 2017. Thanks for the help.

MOOSE Media PRO

We have also tried to install the app on a seperate system and when we try to complete installation we are getting an "Error: tidying exited with code: 6." Thank you again for the assistance.

Cinesaurus PRO

I'm also having the same problem. (Installing on CC 2017, Windows 10)

Dana Staff

Sorry for the trouble! We've just pushed some changes to the Windows installer to fix this issue. Would you mind trying to download the install file and attempting the install process one more time? The panel may still open in these cases as well.

Harbor School PRO

We're having the same problem as TVC. However, it did work correctly the first time with the first sequence/video... but now, when I select the sequence and then Window > Extensions > Vimeo and click the Upload icon, nothing happens

Dana Staff

We are currently investigating this issue and hope to release some changes to the product very soon. In the meantime, I would recommend closing the panel, opening the sequence in the timeline panel, and then reopening the panel.

Dana Staff

We've just pushed some changes to fix this issue. To get the latest update, try closing and re-opening the panel within Premiere. Let us know if you're still having trouble.

WMV Productions PRO

I'm confused. Premiere already uploads to vimeo with more advanced settings. This panel seems to be very unnecessary. Every single video we encode automatically goes to vimeo via premieres normal export panel. How is this panel different?

Suri Ratnatunga Staff

Hi @makevideos – thanks for reaching out, and my apologies for the late reply to your question.

If you use the Vimeo panel to upload a sequence, you can now navigate to its video page, video settings, and video review page directly from the Vimeo panel in Premiere Pro. The panel also helps you more closely monitor your upload progress and Vimeo account storage, and reference previous uploads made to Vimeo from Premiere Pro.

We're just getting started and plan to add additional functionality to the Vimeo panel in the near future. If you have any suggestions, we'd love to hear them.

Trinity New Life Church PRO Live

Hey, this is fantastic! Unfortunately, I've installed it (on the latest CC version) and it just keeps saying choose sequence, but I can't choose one. have three open, restarted over and over. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Dana Staff

I’m going to move this conversation to email to troubleshoot further. I’ll be in touch soon using the primary email address associated with your Vimeo account. Thank you for trying out the panel!

hetpeloton PRO

Is there a way to drop multiple sequences in the tool and then have them all uploaded? Thanks

Dana Staff

Unfortunately, you can only upload one sequence at a time by clicking the upload button. Drag and drop is not supported in the panel. Although you can upload multiple sequences by selecting the upload button, changing the sequence, and selecting the upload button again.

Dale Cressman Plus

Can't seem to install. The error message says "Installation Failed: The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact software manufacturer for assistance. I'm running Mac OS 10.12.3 on a MacBook Pro 2016 and Premiere Pro CC 2017. Thanks.

Dana Staff

Sorry to hear that! I'd like to follow up with this issue via email. I’ll be in touch soon using the primary email address associated with your Vimeo account.

Is there an uninstaller for this plugin? Im on a mac, MacOs Sierra and latest Premiere CC, but after opening the Vimeo Window, Premiere hangs every time.

Dana Staff

We haven't developed an uninstaller just yet, but you can follow these instructions to remove the panel from your Mac: devi.vimeocdn.com/dana/9Ucq. Let us know if you have any questions.

DelbeauFilm PRO

You did not develop an uninstaller yet? Interesting.
Please let us know how to remove it from the Premiere pro in PC!

Ninja Goldfish PRO

Just tried it for the first time... after having the same issue as many others being unable to select a sequence or have it recognized within Premiere, I restarted the application and that much worked. I went through the steps to export and upload, Media Encoder launched and encoded the file, but did not upload. Doing it the old way works fine.

Dana Staff

Glad to hear that restarting the panel has done the trick. We have seen cases where sequences can get stuck in Media Encoder. We are currently working on moving our export process over to Premiere to avoid these types of issues. We're hoping to push some updates soon so stay tuned!

Maximize Video Productions PRO

This is super cool! Can you explain how to import encoding presets into the panel? There are a few in there to start but how do we bring in our own? Thank you!

Clockhouse Productions PRO

That link covers creating presets in Media Encoder, but the question is how to get those presets to appear in the Vimeo panel?

Dana Staff

@clockhouse Once you've exported a preset (.epr file) and clicked on upload within the panel, you can select "custom preset" from the preset dropdown (shown here: devi.vimeocdn.com/dana/jo1j) This will prompt you to select an .epr file from the finder.

Clockhouse Productions PRO

Thanks Dana. That's working. I may be going mad but I could have sworn that "custom preset" wasn't in the drop down list when I first looked! (Premiere 2015.4 on Win10)
Is there any way of deleting presets from the dropdown list?

Alex K. Graham PRO

This is great; will this be rolled out to After Effects at some point too?

Ben Stahl Staff

Hey Alex, we're certainly considering that. Your nod has been noted. I'm glad you're enjoying the panel!

Mazzo Media PRO

Mine just says, "Too many API requests" and I can't even log in....

Dana Staff

Hi Jason! Have you tried typing in the username and password multiple times? In these cases, you may need to wait an hour for the error to clear. Please let us know if you're still having trouble.

People Lab PRO

Same problem as many others. Installed the extension on a Mac with Premiere 2017.0.1.
Opens the new Vimeo extension - window, but nothing happens when trying to use the upload buttons...

Dana Staff

Thanks for letting us know. We are currently investigating this issue. In the meantime, I would recommend closing the panel, opening the sequence in the timeline panel, and then reopening the panel.

Dana Staff

This issue should now be resolved. You'll need to close and reopen the panel for the latest update. Let us know if you're still having trouble.

Joshua Vos | DJVL Plus

It won't install... I have premiere pro CC 2017.0.2 and macOS Sierra 10.12.3. I already removed and re-installed Premiere, but no luck...

Dana Staff

I'd like to follow up with this issue via email. I’ll be in touch soon using the primary email address associated with your Vimeo account.

BCV Social Business

It isn't working - we have the plug in installed and all it does after any one of us click upload is say "launching media encoder...". Media Encoder is open but nothing is happening. We have a business account and all 5 of us are having the same issue... Please advise!

macOS Sierra 10.2.3
Premiere 2017.0.2

Cinesaurus PRO

I'm having the same issue in CC 2017 on Windows 10. Media Encoder launches but nothing happens.

Dana Staff

We have noticed that it can take some extra time for sequences to load in Media Encoder. To eliminate this issue, we are hoping to move the export process into Premiere.

Dana Staff

BCV Evolve- We are also looking into the issue regarding private links. Sorry for the trouble!

BCV Social Business

Thanks for the reply Dana! By the end of the day after a few restarts our videos were uploading through media encoder no problem. I think you should keep the option to export through media encoder so you can still edit in premiere simultaneously. Although if you're in a rush it would be nice to export through premiere. I'll keep an eye out for an update re: private links as we use them for the majority of our work.

Dana Staff

No problem, thanks for your feedback!

Dale Cressman Plus

I don't know what changed, but I was able to install it (initially I got an error message while installing).

Ben Stahl Staff

Phew @cressman. We've been working hard to ship updates that fix installation issues. Let us know if you run into anything else, otherwise we hope you enjoy!

Alex Oyler Plus

Excellent plugin. Definitely streamlined my workflow. Used it all week without issue.
Not to get greedy, but an After Effects version would be pretty sweet.
