Shydeia Caldwell is building an audience of connected, empowered individuals with the help of Vimeo Create.

Shydeia Caldwell is a shamanic practitioner on a mission. The co-founder of Black Girl Magik and spiritual entrepreneur offers virtual wellness and spiritual experiences designed to connect and inspire. She gets the word out about her services by utilizing social media video to curate a safe digital space for her clients and her community.

These videos, which run the gamut from tutorials on ancestral altar creation to guides on spiritual cleansing, are beautifully designed to reach her audience where they live: online. As a one-woman show, Shydeia knows the power of making content that delivers on its promises. “My goal with video is to have better engagement with my audience,” she says.

With the intention of making content that brought her closer to her people, Shydeia turned to Vimeo Create to craft a new series of social videos designed to drive awareness of her virtual classes in the health and wellness industry. The result? A 379% increase in month-over-month traffic to her site, and a 15% increase in Instagram followers in just two weeks. Here’s how.

Video making, made easy.

We believe video creation should be available to everyone, regardless of skill level. That's why we made Vimeo Create.

Making it happen

“My work is a response to my intertwined self-care journey and the current wellness-state of the western world we journey within daily,” says Shydeia. Launched in February of 2020, Shydeia’s spirit-led work kicked off just at the start of the global pandemic, and allowed her to connect with spiritual seekers across the globe through video calls and a digital curriculum. “The pandemic has caused me to switch all my services to virtual and get creative with the process,” she says.

Throughout it all, she’s prioritized video creation as a main part of her marketing strategy, making 1-2 videos a week since her brand’s inception.

"Vimeo Create solves my work blockers, as it’s a video tool that is easy to navigate and inspires me to expand my creativity."

Creative content, made easy

But Shydeia doesn’t have time to waste when it comes to working with clients, marketing her business, managing Black Girl Magik, and staying balanced.

With Vimeo Create, Shydeia is able to make a polished video in under 30 minutes. Not only that, but Shydeia says the tool saves her money: “I didn’t have to outsource to achieve this level of editing,” she says.

“Vimeo Create solves my work blockers, as it’s a video tool that is easy to navigate and inspires me to expand my creativity,” she adds.

Driving powerful results

After experimenting with Vimeo Create video ads for two weeks across social platforms, Shydeia saw a 379% increase in traffic to her website, as well as an influx of call bookings and Instagram followers.

“Vimeo Create has been an extremely easy tool to learn,” says Shydeia. “I plan to continue to use it.”
