At Vimeo, we're not just passionate about the power of video, we're also dedicated to using that power for good — and I get to live this every day! By day I’m on the Trust and Safety Team, ensuring Vimeo remains a safe, vibrant space for creators and marketers alike by removing harmful content from our platform. Since 2022, I’ve also been honored to co-chair Vimeans for Good, our employee volunteer group dedicated to social impact and community outreach. It's a role that lets me witness firsthand how Vimeo's values translate into real-world impact.
What exactly is Vimeans for Good?
Vimeans for Good is Vimeo’s employee volunteer program. We are an interest-based Employee Resource Group (ERG); however we often partner with Vimeo’s identity-based groups, like Queereo, VimEco, and AAPI at Vimeo. In 2025, Vimeans for Good has already contributed to a handful of community projects — both in-person and virtual. We expect this year to be our biggest to date!

in-person volunteer events
Our Do-Gooder event at the Company Kickoff in January was the largest employee volunteer event we’ve held, with over a hundred Vimeans coming together after hours to pack 1,000 hygiene kits for Encore Family Services and CHiPS.
Our group also completed our fifth year of support for Cycle for Survival, a charity dedicated to researching rare cancers. We had the largest turnout we’ve seen since we began sending teams, including two executives: CEO, Philip Moyer, and CRO, Javier Ortega Estrada!
Expanding Vimeo's reach through remote volunteering events
Through our partnership with Percent Pledge, we also have access to remote events to ensure all employees have the opportunity to participate, not just the team members that are local to our NYC headquarters. We even offer open-ended employee volunteer opportunities so Vimeans that are interested can volunteer on their schedules, for as much time as they’d like.
In the last few months, we have coordinated events to:
- Promote food security with Rise Against Hunger
- Identify wild birds’ behavior through trail cams
- Review resumes and provide feedback through Defy Ventures
- Map roads and paths for first responders in Myanmar after the earthquake
These are all voluntary events for staff members that want to get involved and help the community and come together as an organization.
The Good Minute: Video updates that start the week off right
We keep everyone at Vimeo up to speed with our weekly Good Minute video updates — a quick, one-minute video created with Vimeo Record. Every Monday morning, Vimeans for Good releases a short video highlighting:
- Important events from the week before, like volunteer events and major releases
- New events for the upcoming week
- An employee who went above and beyond to build community
The idea is to start the week off right with positivity and a few wins, so we can continue to grow positively and encourage the team. Vimeo Record makes it incredibly easy to quickly capture any updates, highlights, and employee recognition in a polished, professional format — ensuring that even our remote teams feel connected to the positive initiatives happening across the company. The script generator, teleprompter, and text-based editing features have been especially invaluable for us to put together engaging videos in a fraction of the time they would normally take. It's just one example of how Vimeo's technology empowers us to build a stronger community, both via internal communications as well as outside the company.
