    Skirts couldn't be more than three inches from the ground in Enid's days of teaching. She has educated thousands of children in the Sunraysia district and her firm but fair methods of teaching are still remembered and admired by many in the region.

    Beginning her career as a home economics teacher, Enid progressed to become the first female principal in the Sunraysia district.

    Elina's mother always said “If you have bread, cheese, olives and salami in the house then you will always have something to eat and something to offer any unexpected guests”.

    Elina inherited her love of food and music from her Italian parents. She can be found baking bread in her canteena or amongst the grape vines on her "block" on the Murray River. Wherever Elina goes, you can be sure to find the freshest and most authentic home-made Italian food and produce.

    Tanya carries on her Grandmother's legacy as she dedicates her life to the preservation of the sacred aboriginal land within Mungo National Park.

    With great respect for her ancestors, she educates tourists on the ways of the "old ones" in a place where some of the earliest human remains in the world have been found.

    Shirley Gill is living proof that you are never too old to dance. At a time when Spanish dance was unheard of in the Sunraysia region, Shirley began to learn the basics of ballet in her twenties, in the hope that one day she would find someone to teach her flamenco. Once the flame was lit, her passion for Spanish dance has never diminished. Still performing in her seventies, Shirley is an inspiration to all.

    If anyone can turn a bad horse into a good horse, it's Christie.

    Having one of the largest horse farms in Victoria and a long history of broken bones, Christie spends her weeks competing, training and being a Clerk of the Course at Mildura Racing Club. A true-blue country girl, Christie likes nothing more than a cup of tea at the end of a hard days work.
