Analogies of disparity
Barcelona's multicultural nature is fairly well known. The various communities living side by side in the city have their own particular traits and very different ways of understanding life. Despite the huge variety of visible profiles and traditions in the capital, there are some things that are very similar and occur in every case. It is the existence of common links which unite us all that the photographer Mariona Giner aimed to highlight in her selection of photos, Retrat de família (Family portrait), which recently went on show at the Palau Robert. The Gypsy community is the subject of this photographic work made up of instant photos taken over the last eighteen years of people belonging to this ethnic group in Barcelona, Seville and Bolton (England).
