synopsis
A story of a Head who lives alone in a wheelchair for long years in his apartment in downtown of Tunis. He falls into routine by subsisting on media, until he was surprised by an employment announcement. In the end, he abandons his isolation and leaves his wheelchair.

The short was awarded the Palme D'or in the short flm category at the closing ceremony on the 25th of May in Cannes, France.

Waves ’98 is as much a narrative film as it is a personal visual essay dedicated to Dagher’s hometown, Beirut.
The film is an artistic exploration of the director’s current relation with his Lebanon, his home country, projected through the story of a teenager and set in 1998. Since moving abroad to study and work, Ely Dagher has been spending more and more time outside of Lebanon, and his attachment to Beirut Started to become more and more complicated. The overall Narrative of the film is heavily based on Ely’s efforts to understand his changing relationship with the city and it’s life, juxtaposed with the narrative of a teenager’s exciting discovery of this segregated city.

Munukeer is a short film set in 1970's Saudi Arabia. It tells the story of a marriage that, overwhelmed by tradition, lacks intimacy. Dina, a desperate Jeddah housewife, tries to bring passion into her relationship by organizing a romantic trip to Cairo.

Writer/Director, Maram Taibah, was inspired by her parents’ pictures from the 70’s, the heroic looks of men with handlebar moustaches and fragile women in maxi skirts. She set on a cinematic journey to tackle the question of what happens to couples when all love is replaced by the mundane echo of social norms. And all that’s left of romance is looking at Polaroids with Abdel Halim Hafez playing in the background.
