Internationally awarded Urpo & Turpo is based on Hannele Huovi’s books “Urpo and Turpo”, “Urpo, Turpo ja Ihanaa”. Shot on 35 mm film in 1996 and 1997, the stop motion animation series of 13 short films was recently digitally remastered and dubbed into English. A compilation of 7 stories was released theatrically in Finland and in Sweden in 2018.

Tove Jansson, the creator of Moomins and the graphic artist Tuulikki Pietilä spent twenty-five summers on the island of Klovharu in the Gulf of Finland. This documentary is based on the Super 8 footage shot by Tuulikki Pietilä and Tove Jansson between 1970 and 1991. The candid and often revealing commentary is written by Tove Jansson.
