Show Date: June 6th & 7th, 2015
Location: Leech Lake, Minnesota
Accommodations: Sugar Point Resort [800-733-3150 | sugarpoint.com
It’s been a long time since we’ve fished Leech Lake in Northern Minnesota for Walleyes, but we’re back with a great crew of anglers. Leech Lake is going to a walleye renaissance of sorts, which we talk about in the show, and we’re back just in time to see the fruits of the labor of many people.
We’ve got a 4 anglers that are battling each other on two teams. One is “Team Live Bait,” while the other is “Team Plastics.” It’s a battle where each team is confident in their choice, but there can only be one winner. Rusty Lilyquist and Tex Maina are the live bait champions, while Pete Maina and John are casting hard with plastics. It’s a fun walleye show where we drift across the hot spot, and the hot spot is right in front of where we’re staying - a win-win.
Show Date: June 13th & 14th, 2015
Location: Chequamegon Bay & the St. Louis River
Guide: Josh Teigen [715.813.0575 | joshteigen.com ]
It’s a two species, and two location show on this weeks episode. We’ve got a great crew as well: Pete Maina, Tex Maina, Jeremy Meyer, and Len Groom.
On day one we are guided by Josh Teigen on Chequamegon Bay for the large smallmouth bass that swim there. We are casing a large variety of baits & lures, including the Wack-O Worm & Jerk Minnow from Kalin’s, spinnerbaits and buzz-baits from Strike King, and the Pork Crawler from Uncle Josh. The fun part is, is that all the lures are catching fish, so whatever we like to cast, they will most likely bite.
The second day we were in town, Josh had a guide trip, but Len Groom took over co-hosing duties while we trolled the St. Louis River near Duluth Minnesota. Trolling using Strike King Elite Series crank baits was the ticket, as soon as we found the spot.
Show Date: June 20th & 21st, 2015
Location: Vilas Co., Wisconsin
Fishing with friends is a fun experience, which is why we make a point to do it once a year. Our destination is Vilas County, in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin, fishing a couple of lake over the course of two day, targeting walleye and bass.
We are mostly working shorelines using live bait and plastics. Live bait consists of nightcrawlers and leeches, while the Kalin’s Jerk Minnow and Wack-O Worm get top billing in the plastics department.
It’s a fun trip with a good group of guys, and we can’t wait to come back next year.
Show Date: June 27th & 28th, 2015
Location: Various Lakes, Upper Peninsula of Michigan
Guide: Pete Maina [PeteMaina.com]
Pete Maina and my schedules lined up this week, and we were able to head out on the water for a exploratory trip to the U.P. What you won't see on this show, is muskie fishing, but that doesn't mean we didn't try. On our 2.5 days of fishing we tried for a full day on 2 different lakes to lure out some esox in to no avail.
Hoping to find some action, we seek out a lake with walleye, and try our hand at that. This is what you see, and we have a great time catching great numbers of fish.
Show Date: July 3rd & 4th, 2015
Location: Lake Michigan, Milwaukee, WI
Guide: Charter Captain Brian Settele [414-559-9238 | fishchaserguideservice.com]
Trolling this time of year is a lot of fun. It’s the best way to catch big fish, in our case we’re looking or Chinook Salmon. Captain Brian Settele is our guide, and John’s brother in Law Tom & a few buddies are our guests.
Covering water is the key to catching fish on Lake Michigan. Brian is running 6 rods with planar boards, fishing between 110 and 130 feet of water. The lure of choice is flashers with flies or spoons.
