Well, what is an anamorphic shot?
History: "Anamorphic format refers to the cinematography technique of shooting a widescreen picture on standard 35 mm film or other visual recording media with a non-widescreen native aspect ratio. It also refers to the projection format in which a distorted image is 'stretched' by an anamorphic projection lens to recreate the original aspect ratio on the viewing screen. (It should not be confused with anamorphic widescreen, a different video encoding concept that uses similar principles but different means.) The word "anamorphic" and its derivatives stem from the Greek words meaning formed again"
To shot anamorphic we need an anamorphic lens that will distort the picture seen by a (for example) 50mm 1.4.
Where I can find these anamorphic stuf?
I find two on ebay for 100$. One was for one of my students and one was for me. In fact, it's a lie. The one I get
is not really a specific anamorphic lens. I will explained...
Somes technicals: When filmmakers uses anamorphics lens that suppose the theaters are ready to "de-anamorphose" the picture. In order to do that, projectors fit "de-anamorphose" lenses. That the one I use here in the vimeo clip.
In other words; The camera will distort the picture and the projector will reorganise the crop. I have "reorganised" the clip in premiere cc. Sony vegas, adobe after affects or final cut will do the job as well.

How exactly?
I shot with panasonic gh1 body. I fit an old canon FD 50mm 1.4 on it (with an adaptator fd to 4/3). Then I fit the
anamorphic lens head on.
Cautions:
- Anamorphics lenses has typically full manual control. No sharpness, no aperture. I had to deal with
- The aperture and the sharpness on the 50mm 1.4 lens.
- The minimal focusing point is quiet far away and that will depands of your mounted lens.
- The game is to try to setup the aperture of the 50mm 1.4 as closed as possible. At his maximum. F11 or F22 will give the best picture quality (wide sharpness). If you let the 50mm 1.4 wide open, chromatics distortions will be too noticeable.
