The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art is housed in a building constructed with, from, and out of 42 concrete grain silos at Cape Towns newly developed Victoria and Alfred Waterfront complex. This video does not offer a comprehensive overview of the works exhibited in the museum. Its focus in on the architecture as well as on the exhibition "Home is where the art is". The latter is a fun, non-juried collection of art works made or owned by Cape Town people. After getting over my initial expectations of what should be in a modern art museum, I came to appreciate the democratic character of this show in which a large number of paintings and sculptures of very different kinds are presented side by side in 5 or 6 gallery spaces on one floor. I fully realized that I liked this show very much only during editing. Many permanent "serious" works on the museum's second floor were not accessible during my visit.
