After visiting the Prague City Museum we took a
tram ride to the Old Town. We had a long walk
to reach the main square where the main touristic
attraction was, the Astronomical Clock.
On the way we met a guard in armor who let us
try his sword, we did some window shopping and
had photo with a golden king!
When we arrived in front of the Town Hall many people
were already there waiting for the 600 years old
Astronomical Clock to ring at noon. Unfortunately,
at exactly 12 a.m., the sirens of the fire drills
spoiled the whole fun to watch and hear the moving
figures show.
The Astronomical Clock is a masterpiece of science
and art. It shows the medieval understanding of the
time, the movement of the sun, the moon and the stars
in the sky. It shows the changes of the seasons, hours
of daylight, and other important astronomical data
useful to predict events in yearly calendar.
The legend says that the maker of the clock was
made blind to prevent him making similar clocks in
other towns.
