In an industry where so many are scrambling to innovate, Scribewise is a marketing agency that’s doing things differently. “We believe that most companies look at digital marketing the wrong way,” says Senior Account Executive, Cassie Drumm. Small but mighty, the company is made up of ten full-time employees who are committed to turning traditional marketing advice on its head.
With a no-BS approach to client communications — their blog includes features like “Don’t Write Trash Content” and “8 Big Fat Mistakes This Agency Made In 2019” — Scribewise has built a loyal base through radical transparency and a fearless eye for innovation, especially when it comes to video. “Our main goal is to tell stories, both for ourselves or our clients,” says Cassie. “Video enables us to show, not tell, these stories.”
With no video production team or editing experience, Cassie made her first video (inspired by this blog post) in under an hour using Vimeo Create. Since then, Cassie & co. have used Vimeo Create to craft all of their videos, allowing Scribewise to appeal directly to their client base with creative and engaging online content.

Tell us about Scribewise.
We’re a team of storytellers and former journalists whose mission is to strengthen the connection between our clients and their customers. Whether it’s through branding, public relations, social media or content, we’re here to help companies figure out their story and weave it into every aspect of their marketing strategy. We like to say we give a damn about our clients and their success, and that shows in the work that we do.
Why do you use video?
Video is one of the best ways to capture an audience’s attention. We use video to tell our clients’ stories in engaging ways, which is a refreshing complement to blogs or static advertisements. We want to hit them from multiple angles.
How has your video strategy evolved over time?
Agencies and brands used to focus on highly-produced videos that could take weeks or months to get just right. Smartphones, inexpensive video production equipment and tools such as Vimeo Create have enabled brands and agencies like ours to move quickly and create polished videos. Now, we have many options for creating a variety of videos for our clients.
How are you measuring success for your videos?
We believe that most companies look at digital marketing the wrong way. They’re often overly obsessed with “capturing” people and page views, something that is just not indicative of what their business really needs. We’re more focused on validation than volume, meaning prospective clients are viewing our content to validate that we know our stuff. And given that we’re laser-focused on brand awareness and raising our profile in 2020, we are interested in tracking video views and shares. However, our clients may be focused on different metrics, depending on their specific goals. For example, if we’re developing a bottom-of-the-funnel platform explainer video, we’d be more interested in click-throughs and marketing qualified leads. It all depends on our clients’ goals.
Why do you use Vimeo?
Vimeo helped us jump on the video marketing trend and easily create high-quality videos to share with current and potential clients, with no video production or editing experience needed.
