ABOUT OUR GUESTS:
Dr. STACY BLAKE-BEARD is a renowned scholar, consultant, speaker, mentor and coach. She is Visiting Faculty Member at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Prior to Dartmouth, Dr. Blake-Beard was a member of the faculty of the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. She has held a number of faculty leadership roles, serving as the 2016-2019 Deloitte Ellen Gabriel Chair of Women and Leadership at the Simmons College School of Business. Dr. Blake-Beard has an MA and PhD in Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan and a BS in Psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park.

Dr. Blake-Beard is the author of two books, “Mentoring Diverse Leaders: Creating Change for People, Processes, and Paradigms” and “Handbook of Research on Promoting Women’s Careers.” She has also contributed to “Thriving in the Fight: A Survival Manual for Latinas on the Front Lines of Change,” offering the Foreword. Dr. Blake-Beard’s academic research focuses on the challenges and opportunities offered by mentoring relationships, with a focus on how these relationships may be changing as a result of increasing workforce diversity. She is particularly interested in the issues women face as they develop mentoring relationships. She also studies the dynamics of formal mentoring programs in both corporate and educational settings. Dr. Blake-Beard also researches and practices in international contexts, drawing from her global experiences.

DR. AUDREY J. MURRELL
Audrey J. Murrell conducts research, teaching and consulting that helps organizations better utilize and engage their most important assets – their human and social capital. She is currently Acting Dean for the University of Pittsburgh Honors College, Professor of Business Administration and Senior Research Fellow for the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership at the University of Pittsburgh. Previously, she served as the Associate Dean of within the College of Business Administration and as the Director of the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership. She received her B.S. from Howard University, magna cum laude and her an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Delaware. She is the author of several books including: “Mentoring Dilemmas: Developmental Relationships within Multicultural Organizations” (with Faye Crosby and Robyn Ely); “Intelligent Mentoring: How IBM Creates Value through People, Knowledge and Relationships” (with Sheila Forte-Trummel and Diana Bing); “Mentoring Diverse Leaders: Creating Change for People, Processes and Paradigms” (with Stacy Blake-Beard); and, the recent book entitled, “Diversity Across Disciplines: Research on People, Policy, Process and Paradigm” (with Jennifer Petrie-Wyman and Abdesalam Soudi).

How are Black women leading the fight the truth, power and justice? Dr. Stephanie Creary and Dr. Courtney McCluney join Dr. Laura Morgan Roberts on the MAQE Positive Identities vodcast to share leadership lessons for equity and justice. Racial diversity researchers, consultants and professors from The Wharton School (Dr. Creary), Cornell University (Dr. McCluney) and the University of Virginia (Dr. Morgan Roberts) break-down the dynamics of white power and privilege in full view during the January 6th insurrection. In recognition of Black brilliance, Dr. Creary and Dr. McCluney explain how Black women have led the fight against ignorance, denial, and oppression, and issue the call for partners to uphold the pillars of democracy. Often positioned as "outsiders" in elite spaces, Black women in 2021 have shown up as true insiders in the ongoing fight for freedom.
