Fan Zhang/ [email protected] BFA1 film at Calarts. There is a mountain named Kawa Karpo(Meili Snow Mountain). It is the highest mountain in the Chinese province of Yunnan. Kawagarbo is one of the eight sacred mountains in Tibetan Buddhism. I traveled in Tibet with my friends a couple of years ago. Tibetan landscapes and people really inspired me.
I made this film to recall this beautiful place, but I don‘t want too much people to travel to Kawa Karpo. Now, Kawa Karpo is visited by 20,000 pilgrims and innumerable tourists each year, causing the glacier located at Kawa Karpo to melt at 7% annually. The glacier is very spectacular, and it will be a shame if it is to disappear. I think the best way to help local Tibetan is to help their children to get more education.
