However, these technical fields can be best utilized when complemented with achievement of global competencies, such as proficiency in foreign languages, cultural adaptability, and knowledge of world events, and reports continue to show that U.S. students are falling behind. Join us on May 13 for a conversation with three experts in STEM fields who know firsthand their global impact and the importance of combined global/STEM education:

Aimee Kennedy joined Battelle as the Vice President of Education, STEM Learning, and Philanthropy in September 2013. She directs Battelle’s efforts to foster innovative educational environments that prepare students for tomorrow’s career and college opportunities. These inclusive schools offer students access to rigorous academics and real world context, while focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. These include Metro Early College, the Ohio STEM Learning Network, and the national STEMx network. Aimee was formerly the Principal/Chief Academic Officer at Metro Early College High School, an Ohio STEM Learning Network platform school founded by Battelle and located on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Scot McLemore began his career with Honda in 1991 as a manufacturing engineer in the welding department of the Marysville Auto Plant in Marysville, Ohio. Scot expanded his technical experience and capabilities as he moved to the Corporate Technical Planning department. His responsibilities in this area began as a manufacturing engineering consultant to the Honda plants within the Central Ohio area as well as other Honda manufacturing companies in North America including Canada and Mexico. Scot is currently manager at Honda North America, Inc. and is responsible for strategy development for technical resource sourcing and training.

Nancy Montgomery is the Section Manager for R&D Analytical Services within the Abbott Nutrition Division of Abbott Laboratories, providing global direction for R&D testing strategies, method development/validation, and method training and transfers. She has been with Abbott for over 26 years and along with her career in R&D, she has worked in the Division Quality Assurance Operations area as well as several Quality Assurance management roles within the Columbus Manufacturing facility. Nancy’s educational background consists of a BS in Biochemistry and Master’s in Analytical Chemistry.
