There are a lot of elements to juggle when capturing your live events. Now we’re making it easier in one big way: streaming directly from your webcam, with no third-party encoders needed. Vimeo Premium or Enterprise users— and those who want to try our free demo — can go live from their Google Chrome browsers (with more browsers available soon), and enjoy a host of new stats, too.
Go live. Skip the encoder.
Now you can stream events directly from your Chrome browser — which can help get your events up and running faster, and go live with the setup that best fits your needs. That means you can say sayonara to downloading and connecting third-party encoders, and hello to easy, direct streaming.
If you’ve never live streamed with Vimeo, you can go live right from Chrome. If you already have Vimeo Premium or Enterprise, simply head to your Videos page, and create a live event. After you enter the title, start date and time, and privacy settings, you’ll be taken to your live event page. Voila! Now, the default input setting will be your computer’s camera — but you can always hit “Input settings” to stream via RTMP from an external source, such as a DSLR camera. Engagement graphs and social stats.
We’ve also rolled out engagement graphs for your archived live events, so you can see exactly where your fans are most enthralled, and where they’re dropping off. Simply go to your stats page for any individual archived live video, and you’ll be able to access your insights.
We also know that you may be streaming your events across social platforms to reach more fans and increase engagement. Now, you can easily view plays, likes, and comments from your live events on Facebook and YouTube — right from Vimeo.
